eQuip 2020

eQuip 2020 Message:
The year 2020 began with eQuip on the 1-5 January. The theme for eQuip, “2020 Vision: Go with a purpose,” was presented by Bishop Horst Müller, and Pastors Drs Gertrud and Detlev Tönsing. The eQuippans arrived pregnant with excitement to meet brothers and sisters.
We were challenged to reflect on our past and then find our purpose for the future. Through Bible study, group discussions, creative activities and one-on-one counselling we embraced the task courageously. The fellowship of participants and the expertise of the presenters, allowed us to learn from past events in the Bible (Old and New Testaments) and each other’s experiences to identify God’s plan for the world and for ourselves in the future.
The highlights of the week were the music, especially the early morning brass band melody and when the children led the evening devotion, in the form of a movie and provided us with 7 steps of going with a purpose.
eQuip 2020 ended on a high note, filled with hope and courage for the future, with eQuippans eager and equipped to fulfil their 2020 vision.
Can you afford to miss eQuip 2021? See you there: 2-7 January in Hermannsburg!

It is eQuipping time again! For those who attended previously, no introduction is needed.
Being eQuipped to face the new year with all its challenges - a wonderful opportunity.

eQuip brings together young and old. This results in a rich time of sharing and learning. It is good to see so many sparkling eyes at the end!

In planning, we could not miss the opportunity to turn the year - 2020 - into the theme: “20/20 vision”. We link this to the 2019 Synod theme: “Go- With purpose!”
To go with purpose you need clear vision. What if it is missing? We can go with purpose, even if we do not have clear vision, because we have faith in the one who sees. What better way to start 2020 than by reflecting on my vision for the year, my vision for life and asking: Lord, what do you see for me?
As has become custom, Bible studies will form an important part in this reflection. How were people guided? What made them go? What can we learn from them?

The topic“20/20 Vision Go - with purpose!”

Day 1: Old Testament Roots - Abraham&Co
Day 2: New Testament Shoots - When the tough
get going
Day 3: Church fruits - When the going gets tough

The Presenters
Bishop Horst Müller,
Pastors Drs Gertrud & Detlev Tönsing

The aim of the retreat is six fold:
  • Bible Study - getting to know the Bible and it´s background better. How does the Bible speak to this topic?
  • This year we will also give some tools for leading a bible study back home.
  • General Knowledge - getting current information on the topic.
  • Sharing with fellow Christians in small groups - hearing from others how they view issues, and sharing your own opinions, insights and concerns.
  • Fellowship - an opportunity to get to know people from all walks of life, enjoy each others´ company, afternoon outdoor activities, and evenings of fellowship, from laughter to meditation.
  • Worship - time for singing, praying, silence.
  • Time to relax - the program allows time for relaxation, meditation and recreation.
The Venue Hermannsburg, KZN
The climate during that period can range from warm (above 30°) to cool and misty (12°) - so a range of clothing is necessary to cater for this spread.
There is ample playground for children as well as a half-Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts and beautiful hiking or mountain biking opportunities.
